Lawn Fertilization and Weed Control in Rhode Island
Lawn Fertilization and Weed Control in Rhode Island
Give Roots More Room With 4everGreen
A greener lawn takes more than an occasional fertilizer application. Feeding, weed prevention, and pest management need to work together throughout the growing season.
4everGreen Turf Management’s six-round lawn program provides that ongoing care for properties across Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. From spring crabgrass prevention to fall feeding, each round has a purpose. We also keep an eye on changes in the lawn, so thinning grass or a new weed problem can be addressed as it develops.
What Is in the Six-Round Program?
The program combines fertilizer, weed control, grub prevention, seasonal inspections, and lime. Rounds describe the services in the program; the final feeding and lime application may be completed together.
Round 1: Spring Feeding and Prevention
We start with balanced fertilizer, crabgrass prevention, Acelepryn grub prevention, and broadleaf weed control. Micronutrients and biostimulants are also part of this round. Timing takes spring conditions and weed development into account.
Round 2: Follow-Up Spring Care
A second fertilizer application supports continued growth. Additional crabgrass prevention extends the treatment window, while broadleaf control addresses weeds such as dandelions, clover, and plantain. This round also includes micronutrients and biostimulants.
Round 3: Early Summer Care
We use a bio-based fertilizer as the lawn heads into summer. This round also addresses surface-feeding insects and includes targeted treatments for broadleaf weeds, grassy weeds, and nutsedge where appropriate.
Round 4: Late Summer Inspection
We inspect for insect activity, disease symptoms, and drought stress, and spot-treat weeds as needed. This is also a chance to identify thin areas that may benefit from fall aeration and overseeding.
Round 5: Fall Feeding
Fall fertilizer supports the lawn during its cool-season growing period. The application is planned around turf condition and seasonal requirements, giving the grass nutrients while it can use them.
Round 6: Soil pH Support
The program includes AmpXC humic-coated lime, usually applied with the fall feeding. Lime helps raise pH when soil is too acidic. Soil-test results are the best guide to whether lime is needed and how much to use; share any recent results with us during your analysis.
Different Weeds Need Different Treatments
Crabgrass prevention works before new plants emerge. Established broadleaf weeds require a different approach, and nutsedge needs treatment selected for that particular plant. Identifying the weed and checking the surrounding turf helps us choose the appropriate application.
Grass density also affects weed pressure. If bare ground keeps opening up, weeds have more opportunities to establish. Feeding supports existing grass, while seeding may be needed to rebuild thin areas. We will explain when both services make sense.
A Quote Based on Your Lawn
We measure the turf area and discuss the lawn’s condition before quoting the program. You can also add mosquito control, tick control, or aeration and overseeding.
Prefer organic fertilizer? Ask us to compare this program with our organic lawn care option. We will walk through the differences in feeding and weed management so you can choose the approach that fits your expectations.
Frequently Asked Questions
When does the program begin?
The first round generally starts in early spring, depending on conditions. You can join during the season; we explain the remaining rounds and prorated price before you enroll.
When can children and pets return to the lawn?
Follow the instructions left after each application. Reentry and watering requirements depend on the products used, so there is no single waiting period that applies to every round.
Does the program include grub control?
Yes. Round 1 includes Acelepryn grub prevention. If you already have suspected grub damage, we assess it separately and explain the options on our grub control page.
Will fertilizer fill every bare patch?
Fertilizer helps existing grass grow, but it cannot replace missing turf in every situation. We may recommend seeding, aeration, or correcting another underlying problem.
What if weeds appear between rounds?
Contact us so we can assess them. The program includes service calls for breakthrough weeds between scheduled rounds.
